Girl Scout Gold Award Grant

Updated: Mar 24, 2020

A local Bethel Park Girl Scout, Molly Hoffman, received a $500 grant from the Foundation in order to support her project for the Girl Scout Gold Award - the highest level a Girl Scout can achieve and the equivalent of the Boy Scout Eagle Project. Her project was to create a habitat restoration near Oliver Miller Homestead in South Park, PA at the Paul Riis Memorial Meadow.

Molly's Project:

Over the course of the past few months with the help of park rangers and volunteers, she was able to complete a three-pronged project in South Park which included building bee and bat boxes for a pollinator meadow, constructing a vernal pool as a habitat for amphibians and removing invasive plant species in the pollinator meadow. The grant money went towards lumber and supplies to construct the boxes and vernal pool.

Visit the Oliver Miller Homestead to witness Molly and her team of volunteers' hard work to make the community a better place for local wildlife and a place for education on important wildlife in our environment.

Congrats Molly!
